I usually start my car at least every 2 to 3 days otherwise it won't start. I let 4 days go by without starting it and it felt like it was going to start, but I didn't press the gas pedal quick enough (like I usually do, to give it that extra boost)so it died. Now I can't get it to start. It makes an attempt, but I don't hear that (having no other way to describe this) sound it makes when it is starting, I hear a faint sound and feel something (hard to describe). The lights, radio everything is working fine. I know it's because I didn't attempt to start it for 4 days. What can I do? It's a 64 chevelle.

What's happening here? Is the battery going dead? Is the battery losing charge? It takes a lot more power to turn the starter than to run the lights and radio, so that's not a good indicator of battery condition. If you're near Fort Worth, I could come take a look at it for you. If not, we have TC members all over the state, so it shouldn't be too hard to get someone to help out with this, no matter where you are.

sounds like you have a pretty substantial draw in the electrical system. I would start by disconnecting the battery and putting a test light between the - cable and the battery terminal (keep + connected) if the light lights up you have a draw (make sure everything is off and doors are shut). If you have a draw start pulling fuses till the light goes out and you have found your source then repair as necessary, the most common source of a draw on the older cars is the light inside the glovebox. Hope this is some help
I am not anywhere near Fort Worth, I'm in El Paso. I never see members anywhere near where I'm at. I am going to charge the battery/I no longer have a glove box light, I know it's there somewhere but since the glove box disintegrated, I haven't had the need to open the glove box door.
Thanks.
