Hey Guys, I just registered to this board, and I don't know alot about cars, yet... I am trying to learn, I have a 70 Chevelle, and my Carberator keeps flooding, and it kills the engine, its spraying so much gas that gas sprays out of the carberator when I gas it and it will only run for a few minutes, but then It has to site for like 30mns-1hr so it can un-flood, any help would be appreciated, and please explain it in simple terms, I know some, but not to much yet

You likely have any combination of:
- stuck needle that won't shut off the gas when the float reaches the correct height,
- your float is set way too high,
-and/or you are running very high fuel pressure, therefore blowing gas right past the needle.
Check your fuel pressure, and check your float settings. However, given your lack of experience, I would do this with the carb off the car. See www.holley.com (http://www.holley.com) for some good tips on Holleys or get a good book on carbs first.
Also, don't keep trying to run the car like this - the gas is washing the oil off your cylinder walls. Change your oil and don't start it without resetting the carb.
Good Luck!
