I got this ps pump with my car when i bought it. I am wondering if it is the correct one or not for the 68. I tried to verify by looking on ebay but i saw remote ps steering pumps too and i don't even know what that is.

Can anyone get me a pic of what a 68 ps pump is supposed to look like?

Thanks
CC

Which motor?
68 big block pumps have a remote reservoir.

Yes I have a SS396 car. I have a rebuilt 454 going in it, but still wanted to keep it looking as original as possible. So I need a remote resevoir? what about the pump? Confused as usual.

Yes you will need the remote reservoir canister and a different pump. You will also need the different mount brackets for each. I'm not sure what you have for alternator brackets but you may need those as well along with new pulleys. The pump your showing if its off a 68 is for a small block set-up....You will be looking for a short water pump Big Block set up placing the alternator on the driver side....Good Luck

Chris they do sell the brackets aftermarket and fit is typical repo crap.....As far as the pump and reservoir, that I am unsure of. A lot of people opt for a truck style set up which is similar but the the reservoir hose inlet on the pump is located facing the incorrect angle....So if you go to eBay beware of the truck set ups that are sold as Chevelle set ups, they may likely function but appearance will be incorrect.

I know that the repro reservoirs and brackets aren't like the originals. I'm pretty sure that the pump covers are different, too. Search in the Restoration forum, there were some threads posted on P/S pumps recently.

The pump in the photo has brackets just like the 72 400 small block I bought for the Nova project. It is for a long pump set up.
