I recently received a large roll of black carpet from work for plans to put it in my trunk. I was planning on buying a carpet set eventually for the interior but i was wondering what would be involved in cutting this carpet to fit in the car and stay molded over the centre hump and around the seats etc. Also i was wondering if anyone had any tips for carpeting the trunk?

IMHO, for the $100 or so you'd save over the molded carpet you will not be happy with the results. When I got my car the previous owner did this...went to a place like "Pep Boys" and bought a universal black carpet. It had wrinkles and creases and it slid all over the place. I couldn't wait to tear it out. I'm glad I did!

Carpet sets are steam formed over a mold to get them to fit and hold their shape. There is no way you'll get a flat piece of carpet to conform to all of the compound curves of the floor and tunnel. The truck will present similar problems. To get it to fit, you'll need to do a lot of cutting and gluing.

Take the roll of carpet and lay it down under your car. Pay the $125 and get the right carpet for your car. You will be much happier
