I would not recommend using them I had a th-400 in the shop and the quality of workmanship was dissapointing and the it did not have the parts in it as advertised

I don't know of them from a purchase point of view, but I spoke with them recently about a torque converter. Sounded to be fairly knowlegeable. If I were them though, I would change my company name. How can anybody take a company seriously with a name like that?

A 700R4 would work well behind a 350 in a 70 truck. If you would like to have your brother e-mail or call me with more details on his application I would be happy to recommend a TCI transmission and converter.
Thanks

think they are called monster transmission > down in FL. search on here. I was going to use them until a guy at work sold me his 700r4 and I know a real good builder here in town that will build it for a fair price. there are a couple of weak parts in the 700r4 and the monster site can educate you on them....cant wait to get mine in the chevy. that low gear will be the bomb and that od has definately got to help the top end....

I know Achilles and Bob there. They buy from us quite a bit and from speaking with them, they are very knowledgeable, but havent seen the work personally.

If your looking for someone with a GREAT reputation, awesome product and will stand behind it, I would call my buddy Greg @ Phoenix Transmission. He will build you a very tight and durable piece. His transmissions are built to match your whole powertrain, not an off the shelf, gonna get it close deal.

Give him a call and let him know Brandon with ATK Engines sent you.

Maybe check out http://www.cpttransmission.com/, too. 2004r trans. Non-lockup converter. I've never run one, so you need to research it.

Just throwing another option out there.

Jake recently rebuilt the 700r4 in my El Camino. Works great. I also have a 4L80E that he built, for my currently unfinished Chevelle. He knows his stuff, and is located in Sanger, just north of Denton. (I35E)

Thanks guys for all the input, My brother is in Ia.
I will forward this page to him. I'm not up on the differences between 200 and 700 R4 and 4L80E so I guees he will have to research all that.
Thanks!

Yes, there are some good articles on 2004rs on that site. One nice thing is they don't have such a steep first gear like the 700r4. I researched it quite a bit before I ended up rebuilding my m20. I came to the conclusion that for me, the 2004r would be better. I guess it depends on how hard you are going to be on it, among other things. If I ever go to an auto it will be a 2004r, probably.
