What is the correct paint color for my 70 Chevelle SS master brake cylinder, it's cap and the power brake booster?

Hey Charlie, I see your fairly new here so I'll try my best to answer your question. First off the booster and the lid are supposed to be plated and not really painted. I'm not sure what your looking to achieve as far as a restoration goes but if you were to paint them a light gold color would be close. The master you can paint with Cast Blast to achieve the color you are looking for. As far as the plating goes Steve Gregory in Ca. does a lot of them and for a booster and cap it would run around 300+ shipping. Hope this info helps.

Here's another contact for having the lid, and booster plated.

www.brakeboosters.com (http://www.brakeboosters.com) if nothing more than letting you see what they should look like. (actually it's the same guy)

I think, (if I'm not mistaken) that there are documented examples of both natural steel, and a semi Flat Black paint. Possibly due to different GM vendors. I think either is technically correct.

I went Black on the chevelle, but on the Corvette I'm restoring, I wire Wheeled the master cylinder to bare metal, then covered with grease throuroughly to prevent rust.

What it left was a very nice rich brown patina that looked more natural than a painted part.

I personally like leaving natural parts natural, just for the sake of the extra contrast and detail it gives on a show car.

(although it takes a little more effort to keep rust free with oil or grease applications.)

So you have 3 options, and none would be frowned on, just a matter or preferance.

Thanks guys, the reason I'm asking is that I have seen everything from gloss black, simi-gloss, satin and flat black. Then I have seen gold cadmium, silver, gray and zink. I figured there must have been a factory color for these parts so thought I would come to web experts and ask. Still confused? Help

Here's a couple of pictures Charlie. Steve from brake boosters plated the booster and lid, the master is just cast blast.
