I have a th350 tranny and it was rebuilt about 2 years ago and i dont drive the car that often so it doesnt have that many miles on it since the rebuild, anyway a few weeks back i was driving it (stretching it's legs from sitting in the garage for awhile) and i noticed that the gear shifter (auto 3 on the floor) wasn't engaging as good as it always was its seem to lock into gear about a half of a inch back on the shifter than it should lock, performance wise is doesnt seem different but when im shifting into drive in need to pull the shifter almost to "2" before it engages and then i can slide it slightly forward and lock it, any ideas on what the problem could be???? thanks alot for all your help with this...

First make sure the shifter cable is tight where it attaches to the shifter. Then look at the bracket on the trans and make sure it is tight too. Lastly, see if the shifter arm on the trans is tight or not. It may be loose on the inside or outside, there is also a nut on the inside that can loosen. If it is tight, then just readjust the cable. Should be no big deal to do.
