hi new to the site.looks like a great site.i have a 70 chevelle and i am trying to see if there is a true way of telling if it is a ss car.any help would be great.thanks stan.

Without a real build sheet or some original paperwork there is not a true way of identifying a 70 SS. The SS model would have a 136 vin, but so did all V8 cars. The SS package was an option and will not be in the Vin number or on the cowl tag. Paper work - Paper work is the only way unless you have a number matching car (Which the motor can be a restamp) may shed some light if it is a 402 or 454 model. Read the attached info it gives clues, but again anyone of the items can be added to the car to make it look like a SS.
