after a short time the plugs in the #2 snd #8 cylinders get an oil-fouled / too rich kinda look to them. The other plugs all look great. This is on a '67 396. Any ideas? :(

Do a compresion check all cylinder's,should be 140-150 compresion. If 2 and 8 are different, try some oil in cylinder. If higher seems rings might be bad.
Or aleak down tester for valves.Maybe some one will chime in for what else to check ;)

Could be a Valve Seal or could be rings. If it puffs a lot of blue smoke after a cold start, my guess would be a seal(s). Oil will drip down the valve stem past the seal & build up on the valve head itself. When you start it up, it all drips into the cylinder, & poof, lot of blue smoke. Try replacing both sets of seals on both cylinders & pray a lot during & after replacing them.
