i have a 69 chevelle malibu 350/350 and when i start it up it runs fine for about five minutes and then it starts smoking out of the exaust continuously and doesn't stop, it is a grey smoke and tons of it too. ive filled up the tank several times with premium thinking i can burn whatever it is off and ive also added fuel system cleaners but still to no avail, also it only smokes out of the left bank of the engine but im not losing any oil so im really stumped, any ideas that would help???? im really stuck on this one...
thanks!

Are you losing coolant from the radiator? And do you detect the odor of anti-freeze by any chance? It sounds like coolant is getting into the combustion chamber and what you are seeing is actually steam, judging from your description.

i just started up my car again and checked it out, it doesn't really smell to much like anti-freeze (the exaust) but i did check out the anti-freeze fluid level and it is extremely low, so maybe thats it... if so how do i go about pinpointing the problem and fixing it??? is this something really serious???

Well, leaking coolant into the combustion chamber is never a good thing. , what it could be could vary anywhere from a blown head gasket to a cracked head to a cracked cylinder. Anything is possible. What I would do is get a coolant system pressure tester (screws onto radiator where radiator cap is) and pump up the system and listen for leaks or look for any external leaks. Whatever side of your exhaust is smoking, I would remove the spark plugs and listen to see if there is any hissing noise coming from any of the holes for the spark plugs. If there is, that is the area where you are leaking the coolant into. What you can also do to see if you have a bad head gasket is to a compression check and that will tell you where the head gasket is blown. A cylinder that is very low in compression would probably be culprit. Hopefully this will help ya out.

If its this bad the offending cylinder's spark plug will be CLEAN compared to the others.
