Since the engine has never been out, I'm assuming the deck stamps are still there and match the VIN, build date, etc.?? Are other components correct and date matched, such as carb, dist, alt, etc.? Is the trans numbers matching? Casting date of heads match? No docs hurts but a numbers matching engine helps a lot if it can be determined not a restamp by those that know how to tell (not me)

Nice car, I remember talking about this one years ago when you were considering selling it. I'm surprised to see you still have it, that was some time ago.

I wish I was in a position to Muscle those two prospective buyers out of the way on this one.

All original, dated parts. All VIN's are matching. I had MacNeish do an inspection and documentation of it before I bought it. Roger Ausley owned the car before I did.

I remember talking with you. I just don't know if I could ever replace the car, so I really don't want to sell it. I am torn between building a place in Florida or hanging on to the Chevelle.

Very nice car!

What's the story on the non SS rocker moldings it had?

Thanks Dean. The 3rd owner installed the trim. I called him a while back and he was in the process of removing a set on another 69 that he had installed in 1972.
He owns a small body shop and he said he installed quite a few sets of them back then.
When I took them off, there were 8 holes. I had my body guy weld the holes up and lead the surface. Real lead.

I think like the 3rd owner I guess.
I always did think that GM made a mistake not putting them on SS cars.

The sky's the limit with the right two bidders. As with any "high Horse" model, it's a significant car.

My clone sold for $55K, what would you ask for a numbers matching L78?

John, I'm thinking the same way. This car, if its' stamps and all other important numbers can hold their own with a thorough inspection, it could be worth a lot more. This car has a lot of upside to it, colors, buckets, 4 speed etc. How many real black/black, bucket seat, 69 L78 4 speeds have you seen for sale? I haven't seen any lately, so it's hard to say. This car certainly has the right curb appeal and all it takes is 1 guy that has to have it! If I were in the market for a 69 L78, this car would be it and I wouldn't blink at 60K or maybe even more. Just my .02 on it.

I seen this car when I was at Tonys this last summer and it is absolutely beautiful. I would not hastate one minute on any of his cars. He tells it like it is and I am sure all the items he says are correct are. Good luck if you sell her but remember it will be very hard to replace her.

Thanks to all of you that responded. After sleeping on it and coming out here this morning, I pulled the cover off the car. It ain't for sale. I looked for 5 years for this car. I don't think I would ever find another one like it.

Cars like those do not come around every day, sometimes never in a lifetime. If it were me, I would rather have the car. No question.

You are rite there Chris. I looked at a bunch of cars before I found this one. I still shake my head at some of the junk people were trying to sell me. And acted like they were doing me a favor!
