Live, in person transaction! Maybe by someone that lives near the person you are dealing with.

I don't know it it is truth or rumor about the Post Office, that they will invesitgate and people accepting a PO money order will be investigated by the PO. I have used postal money orders many times and twice I was screwed, the money order cashed and me never recieving the merchandise. Both times I filed complaints and such, but nothing was done.

If I was doing anything major, $150 or more, I would try to do several partial deals. I would pay 1/3, recieve 1/3, do this untill the deal is complete. If the seller won't do that, ask him to send the parts up front and you will pay on reception. Paypal, may be a way to do that and have them guarantee the deal, but I am not sure about PP.

Pay with Paypal using your credit card. if you don't receive your items or the item is not as described. you have a better chance of getting your money back either from paypal or your credit card company.

Anyone can have a Paypal account. These days you need some protection for your purchases, and CC ( or paying by CC through Paypal ) is the only real way to get it.
