I HAVE a holley mach. fuel pump, on my 454
i installed it and as i was watching it run .it looked like it was throbbing , lifting .i know its tight and i'm pretty sure that i installed it correct, but you never know. the carb is getting gas so that a good sign.so is this something i better look in to? :confused:

So let me get this staight, You have a Holley mechanical fuel pump (new?). And it's moving? Are you sure you have all four bolts tight i.e. two for the pump and two for the plate. I would definately look into this. Are you leaking any oil? I don't think you could put it in wrong. Pin is on top of the pump arm right?

yes its a new pump, there were only two bolts that i had to tighten thats the two that go pump to motor, there are no oil leaks, what you say that there is two more foe a plate??? i will go out to the car and have a look thanks :eek:

If its a 454 (which it is) theres only 2 mounting bolts.
It’s probably the housing flexing. A few years back I had one of the chrome Holley pumps on my Olds. The housing on it split in two when I was driving down the highway one morning on the way to work. The casting was super thin. If it were mine I’d swap it out for a Carter or AC unit.

ya thats what i was thinking it must be flexing , well its new and its chrome , and now its used so i can return it , soi gess that i will have to run it till it dies, thanks guys
