I have a 66 chevelle with a 283, PG, and a 3.08 rear end. I recently installed a new TCI saturday night special torque convertor with a stall speed of 1600-1800. Now when I run the car: when its cold it runs fine but when it warms up and in drive at a stop, the rpms drop and it stalls out. I tried increasing the idle, but the idle has to be at 1800 in order to keep it from stalling in drive and at a stop.

Jeremiah,
That does not sound like a torque converter problem. Did you possibly knock a vacuum line loose while you were doing the swap ? Sound more like carb or possibly even ignition to me.

How does it idle in park warmed up ?
Are you pretty confident nothing was in a bind and the converter moved freely when bolted up ?

It very well may be a carb issue that is what i was looking for is ideas on what to check, Because it does idle fine on start up when it is in park, when it warms up it idles fine in park but as soon as you put in drive and at a dead stop, the rpms drop and it stalls out
