My car sat for about three months before I had a chance to get it out on the road the last time. After a few minutes when I got to speed I noticed a tremendous vibration around 50-60 mph. This never happened before and the car was almost undrivable. I'm not sure if there's a connection but about a year ago I bought a set of Pirelli's 225x65 high speed radials. The car gets driven maybe once or twice a month but I've only put about 300 miles on the tires. I'm open to any ideas.

Tires may have flat spots from sitting. You can also have the tires balanced and see if that is causing the problem.

Probably tires out of round. Not unusual, some brands worse than others. One of my cars does this really bad, I just drive it once a week to try to keep up with it. A SLOW weave (in lane) will help 'loosen up' the tread and sidewalls. Try to do this with no one around, people will think you're a NASCAR fan cleaning your tires.

Definitely flat spotted. Any radial tire will "flat spot" when sitting for a period of time. Some brands are worse than others. Take it out for a long drive with sustained speeds above 30mph and as the tires warm up they should come back to true. After the drive, if you think you still have a problem you can have the balance checked. Why spend cash if you don't have to. graemlins/beers.gif
