Anyone know of someone/ somebody in the Baltimore (Ellicott City area) who can replace a leaking fuel pump on my 1966 Chevelle SS (454-360HP)?
Car is show quality / very low mileage and I prefer not to drive it very far.
I'm not that mechanically inclined and need help.
Appreciate any leads or referrals.

can't really give you a referal, but just some words of assurance. Replacing a fuel pump is not a complicated job...You have the fuel lines and the mounting bolts ... The main thing is you want a quality pump, not just anything off the shelf. You can certainly try the local Chevy dealer if you are not comfortable with any of the local independent or chain shops ... Still, if you have any friends in the car enthusiast hobby, doing the fuel pump is probably a 30-60 minute job ... Get a AC pump , or maybe a Carter pump, and go for it. Your main concern is to check for leaks after the new pump is installed. Also, no smoking ... and be careful of sparks while working on any part of the fuel delivery system ...

You might want to shoot Bob Wilcox of the MD Chevelle Club an email at debra4@earthlink.net. He owns many chevelles and does mechanical work out of his home shop. If I find his phone number I will post it.
