i recently installed a 454 in my 71 chevelle. i cant get anything to work from the inside. it wont turn over by the key, n headlights. no anything. i can hot wire the car and it will run. but the starter stays engaged. causing to grind. if i take my hot wire used to hot wire it off it dies? do any of you have a wiring diagram you could email to me?

The main power feed wire should be fusible and goes on the same terminal post of the starter with the positive battery cable.
The purple wire should be the only wire on the starter's small "S" terminal. (the one closest to the engine block)
IF you still have the points distributer, the Yellow - bypass wire goes from the starter's "R" terminal to the coil's + terminal.
IF you have an HEI distributer, disconnect the yellow - bypass wire at both ends and tape it up.
If the starter still stays engaged, the starter drive may be too tight against the flywheel, causing it to stick "IN"

Not on a 71. It's wired close to your 69. The 72 with it's hard-to-find horn relay changed things around.

I was thinking "72" redface.gif
It runs from the positive battery cable to the terminal block on the core support behind (in front of) the battery then.
