Is it possible to put a 1970 Chevelle body on a 1972 Monte Carlo frame?

No, Not close, look at a MC and see where the engine is in relation to the front suspension, then look at the nice flat firewall in a Chevelle. NO go, MC's are different.

Merle,
You should be able to use a 70-72 Chevelle, Cutlas, Lemans or Skylark frame.

From the firewall back they are the same but from the firewall to the front springs, they added 4" and from the front springs to the bumper, another 4" were added.

The Monte was originally designed to be Chevy's version of the front wheel drive Toronado/El Dorado. It was changed to rear drive before it went into production, but the frame length was left unchanged. It is much longer than the Chevelle in the front.
