I have to ship my 454 from here near Philly to Houston. Figure around 650lbs with the crate (alum heads). Got a quote from freightquote.com for about 333.00 for Roadway terminal to terminal. Any other methods/suggestions?

Just be sure it is on a wide enough pallot to prevent being top heavy enough to roll in a tight turn or fast stop.

I use Old Glory Freight and have had good results. I crate the motors myself to be sure they survive shipping without getting hurt. Just shipped a block to Wyoming this week and I believe the cost was around $210. Your price sounds very fair.

Go direct to a truck freight company. If you go online, they are probably brokers and are adding extra charges.
