bri2203 Feb 3rd, 09, 11:17 PM I hope your going to live up to your name and put a ferrari front clip, engine/trans in it!!
Has anyone put a GTO front clip on a elcamino? It would be kinda neat
FerrariTruck Feb 4th, 09, 2:41 AM ok checked it out and i bought it:hurray::D $200 bucks!!!!
looked it over pretty good and overall car is decent shape. The body is actually straght but you can tell they covered some rust on the lower panels. The floors are in good shape and only have a lil rust due to leaking master cylinder. The only panel that is rusted out is this lower storage compartment at the front of the bed. The deal was the car as you see it minus front fenders, windshield, and tailgate.
Now why you ask did i buy something that looks like it will obiovously need alot of work???
Well I actually have alot of random parts like a good condtion black power bench seat outta my dads 65 skylark that will go right in. I have my old working steering column outta my 70 monte. As far as motor goes i will be straight dropping in the 454 with trans and drive shaft , core radiator outta my monte as well. fenders, windshield and other stuff will come outta ebay... Hell I might even throw my rallys on this things too since I really dont like em that much.. First thing in order for this car are brakes and suspension next week. Then some sanding and i will spray this thing flat black and lay down some red rally stripes. Then start the process of dropping it all in. So what do you think? Better pictures in the day by friday:D can ya tell i'm stoked????

Jim Mac Feb 4th, 09, 8:29 AM Your starting with alot more than I did when I dragged home my chevelle. Great find for the price.
If you work on it consistantly, it would probably be running in a couple months. jim

Yeah well thats wher the promblem lies...I need to have this up and running in a month.. I was specifically looking for a roller car like this so i could swap my motor out into and flip and try to make a buck or two:)
I know folks say cars are bad investements but I have very little into the motor i currently have and looks like I wont put more then $1k into the elco.
So Once I get it home the work begins. Once I sell it hopefully I will have some money to finance the build of the 461
sg5492 Feb 4th, 09, 6:23 PM Looks like you got a good buy. I had a 72 El Camino (after that a 69 el Camino) for about three years. I loved it.

oh yeah I know, the monte is my boy and i'm only ditching the stuff that it aint gonna need. I got a bunch of new stuff just sitting for it waiting to go in.
I really do feel proud though that i saved one car from going to the scrapper and getting crushed. I rec everyone try it at least once
Jim Mac Feb 5th, 09, 12:18 AM I dragged my 71 elcamino home sort of like that. Only reason I bought it was it came with a muncie and the clutch pedal/changeover. I was just going take the 4 speed changeover and part the rest out. After looking at what I came home with, I decided to just throw a 350/350 combo. went as far as putting factory buckets, console back into it.
The chevelle was even worse. I got it after a guy finished parting it out. started with a rolling frame, 2 doors a trunk lid, and basically the body shell, no dash, wires, basically a tin can. It ended up with a 454, muncie M20, 12 bolt 3.31 with lockright. interior is the same as the other elky, buckets, console, monte dash.
I know what you mean about resurecting something from nothing. Jim
