: OK Beaumont guys...
BillsCamino Feb 3rd, 09, 8:31 PM ...I'm not really up on these but is this the correct hood for this model/year?? Seems like a nice but unusual car. What 'ya think?

55Redneck Feb 3rd, 09, 9:09 PM That's not the factory stock hood for that car.
The hood itself looks factory. I think someone just stuck the fake air intakes on it.
Rest of the car looks correct and pretty good.

Thats what I was thinking but sadly I'm not up to speed on these cars, especially the trimmings.
I sure do like the looks of this one though... It'd be a bad ride to be able to drag this up to the CanAm show next July.
ak 67SD Feb 4th, 09, 1:19 AM the hood inserts look like dodge dart or something? Beaumont and chevelle hoods are the same, except some 67 big block sd cars came with flat hoods from the factory (very rare) this one does look to be in nice shape, judging by the chrome around the roof line it was probably a 2 tone car originally, also the chrome that is on the car is hard to find at all, and it all looks in decent shape...i think his price is on the high end for a 4dr car though... i'm sure it would turn some heads down south!

jfkheat Feb 4th, 09, 9:24 PM Bill, that would be a good project car for you but $7500 is way too much for that car. Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's desirable. There is some incorrect info in the ad. The car can be documented through GM of Canada and that will tell how many were built. They didn't stop that info in 1965 as stated in the ad.

BillsCamino Feb 4th, 09, 10:13 PM Thanks guys!!
danss427 Feb 4th, 09, 10:51 PM Those are1966 chevelle ss hood louvers. On a 66 chevelle they are bolted on.The guy did some work to make them sit flush.I have a 66,and new right away what they were off of.The 1967 beaumonts had the same hood as a chevelle.I live in Canada and they were all over when I was younger. The beaumont sd was like a chevelle ss and had chevy engines, but were a pontiac. Why they did this,I couldnt say!
mike67sd Feb 5th, 09, 12:04 AM Heres another Ebay car. There are a couple things Im wondering about, like the 736 VIN and the rear valance trim......

ak 67SD Feb 5th, 09, 1:32 PM Pretty nice looking car...here are a few of my observations... if its a 736 car, it may be one of the last with a 396, judging by the vin production number it could have been early december 1966. If it is a 736 vin SD it would not have a big block hood on it from the factory, it would be a flat hood.
It is missing the SD rear valence chrome, firewall isnt painted body colour (which is a feature of a beaumont that imo makes it look nicer than us built chevelles), louvres aren't painted, trunk would be body colour -no spatter.

Its my understanding that you could get a small block SD early in the 67 year, so it would have the regular hood for sure ... I dont know if the big block cars of that period got the regular hood as well. Im wondering if the early SD's would have had the SD valance trim....thats the only trim part for SD that is not repro'd.
You would think the seller would want to have posted the GM Canada document on such a rare car... Funny both of mine said 451 of that model and they were both 738 cars.
The SD I have now even had engine serial # recorded on the copy I received, my previous SD had no serial # just 396 but it did verify that it was a factory big block.
I'm not trying to denigrate the car, it looks like a darn nice restoration judging from the frame, body and engine compartment.
blumont Feb 5th, 09, 6:20 PM Whats happening here?? Is Bill getting the dreaded Beaumont bug :D
BillsCamino Feb 5th, 09, 6:55 PM Whats happening here?? Is Bill getting the dreaded Beaumont bug :D
Oh no Jerry....:noway:
However, having grown up in western NY right on the Niagara River/border with Ontario, I'll admit those cars have always caught my eye.
ak 67SD Feb 5th, 09, 6:58 PM Hi Mike, you could get both sbc and bbc "sports options" (sd's with a 736 vin) up until around the first week of december 66. After that they switched to the 738 vin and SD's were BBC only. If you optioned the L34 in a 736 sports option (SD) you would get the BBC car but with a flat hood, there are not too many of these around! All SD cars (early 736 or later 738) would have received the rear valence trim. I have a fairly early sports option SD built in sept.66, and it had the rear trim.
Also what do you mean about the serial number? do you mean you had a 736vin bbc car?
If anyone on TC is looking at that car, do your homework on the documents!!

hypa Feb 10th, 09, 2:10 PM Some great information in this thread.
I had no idea the Chevelle and Beaumont shared hoods, not did I know you could get Beaumont repro'd trim pieces.
thats the only trim part for SD that is not repro'd.
Mike, any idea where one can find repro'd trim?
I almost have all of my original trim complete, but some of it is a bit beat up. Buying some temporary pieces would be great and allow me the time to repair my originals.
mike67sd Feb 15th, 09, 9:40 PM I would try Dales muscle car parts in Bracebridge. I have had more help there than anywhere else....
Keith Tedford Feb 16th, 09, 12:41 AM Dale was getting emblems repro'd. Don't know about trim though. He's a good guy to deal with and I have bought quite a bit of stuff from him over the last few years. Try 1-705-645-6831 or 1-877-276-6831. www.dalesmusclecarparts.com
bcice Feb 16th, 09, 5:03 PM This was sent out from the president of cnadian classics chevelles and Beaumonts. Might be of intrest to some of you.
Hello Fellow Members
There has been a lot of interest in Beaumont owners getting their spear for the centre part of the grille, which has been a extremely hard item to find and Buy.
Dale Bertrand of Dale's Muscle Car Parts in Bracebridge, ON has figured out a plan to get them made, but will need members that would like to purchase one will have to preorder and pay some up front..
Below is a conversation between Doug Heinrich and ,myself and Dale Bertrand. If interested in doing this, I would like a survey as to how many would participate. Email or Phone me.
Subject: Re: Looking for 67 Beaumont Grille Spear
Don, I don't know if this just gets returned to you or to all but if it's just you can you pass it on. I was e-mailing a guy named John Farrugia a couple of years ago who was planning on making a batch of 50 - 1967 Beaumont Grille Spears and the price would be $150 each. They are made out of the US from a company who specializes in emblem casting. He had an emblem in pretty good condition to start with. They scan the emblem and using computer aided design the create a finish product that is an exact replica of the original. John gave up on this project due to lack of interest. I know I need one and apparently so does Steve. Is there any other takers out there? Maybe we could get John back on his mission if there is
enough interest.

Hi Doug
The problem with the reproductions of items is always the same. COST !!!!. Dale Bertrand of Dale's Muscle Car Parts in Bracebridge, ON has had some Beaumont stuff done by the people that do the name plates etc. it is good quality and the minimum's and the money that has to be put up front is expensive. I know he has stock of what he has had done, but the problems is the turnover is really slow, and he has a lot of money tied up. It is too scary to tie up a lot of money.
Maybe we should take a survey of how many would order and pay up front for the spears, at least it would give him a idea.
Don
Hi Don
I am going to do the 67 grill spear, but as with every other small business right now capital is tight. If our fellow members can contact me with a list of at least
10 people that would preorder I will get the ball rolling. I would need a deposit on the emblem this would help with tooling cost and license fees. I know this involves some trust on the members part, I but I think my past history of being in business for 15 years should help. .You can reach me toll free 1 877 276 6831
Thanks Dale
quijote Feb 18th, 09, 12:03 AM Hi guys,
if the reproductions are top quallity then i can try to promote them here. in Chile we have more beaumonts than chevelles.
i got the site http://www.chevelle.cl to show my slow progress, and i have a page for classifieds : http://www.chevelle.cl/classifieds.html
ok ok ...don't laugh... i'm alone in the dark... but who cares...
while the tools for assisted publish gets finished (expect one or two months) i'll try to promote that page
that can be my sand grain
