Last week my father gave me a 95 GMC 2500 custom van with 153,000 miles. He's taking advantage of the company buy out and retiring and bought a 09 GMC Arcadia to replace the van. The body is pretty rusted and he didn't think he would get for it in trade; so he gave it to me hoping I could use some parts on my Chevelle.

I plan on using the trans - 4L60e and the brackets and accessories to switch over to a serpentine setup on my 454 ( I've seen brackets on ebay to use with BBC's )

I popped the hood on the van today and it has hydroboost. :hurray:
Which brings me to my questions...

I've read the posts where people are piecing together kits for their cars - has anyone tried a unit from a full-size van?

The accumulator on this unit is on the bottom by the engine - can it be flipped over so it is on the top and towards the fender?

I've seen different master cylinders used - what dictates which master cylinder to use?

The van runs so good it's almost a shame that I'm going to part it out... but, Dad gave it to me to use whatever I could on my car, so I am. I mean I've got to make him happy - right?

Thanks for your help.

hey i was wondering if u might know of any other vehicles that came stock with a hydra boost setup. Converted front/rear wilwood discs. I have a bbc w/ tall valve covers, went with a 7" booster. There isnt enough vacuum, i tried a pump.. worx but it sux and i hate it, and its EFFFN ugly. I want to go hydraboost but trying to save money. Any help would be much appreciated

it shouldn't be too hard to make the hydrobooster work on your car, and i'd try the van master cylinder first, since you've already got it. and, yes, i believe you can flip the booster over so the gas cylinder is away from the engine.

as for the question about which vehicles came with hydroboost units- early 80's G bodies with diesel V8 or turbocharged V6, mid 70's and newer diesel pickups, 90's Astro AWD vans, mid 90's and newer Mustangs with the big DOHC motor... best advice is to head to a junkyard and start popping hoods and see where you find them.
