My old vinyl top was pretty rotten so I decided to tear it off. It came off pretty easy & lucky for me the steel underneath is in good condition. No rust.
The problem I have is the vinyl was tucked under the trim / molding around the windshield. How do I take that trim off w/o destroying it?

First you need a trim removal tool ( paint supply store) they usually come in a set. There will be a flat tapered tool with a 1/2 slot,on the glass side of the trim slide the tool sideways until you encounter a trim clip Gauge the clips with and center the tool, with firm pressure push in on the clip while gently pressing down on the trim above. You should feel a little spring in the clip if you don't you are not on the clip correctly.Do not pry up on the trim, you will bend the channel the clips attach to. Good luck and take your time.
And be very careful that the tool is on the clip and not on the edge of the windshield before prying. If you pry on the edge of the windshield it will often chip a big chunk out of the windshield that can start a huge crack. Ask me how I know. BTW windshields are not tempered glass so the glass is pretty fragile and will chip/crack easily.
