My alternator is a one wire. is it possible for it to start grounding out. I am getting a spark from the case when i touch the alternator to the mounting brackett.Volt meter in dash is sporatic on it's reading. Please reply.

You've got the 1-wire connected and when you touch the case it sparks?? That sounds like a bad alternator to me. The thing should be dead unless it's charging. Are you also having battery drain problems?
