I picked up some new parts on Friday. I got a GC power steering box, gas tank from a 95 Impala SS, and I found a pair of front 1LE rotors from a 3rd Gen camaro. The guy only wanted $25 for both rotors, brake pads, bearings, washer, nuts, dust covers, etc. So I figured they would definately be worth that since they are in great shape! I was wondering if I had to buy classicsperform spindle to use these rotors? Is a bracket available that would work for the 70-78 Camaro Calipers like they use? Next question, will these rotors fit on my stock 64 Chevelle drum brake spindles? Is the bearing size right, etc? I've seen you can modify stock drum spindles to be used with disc brakes. If they will, I will probably try to build my own caliper brackets...

The 1LE rotors will not fit your stock spindles. They work on the 77-up B-body (big car, Impala, Caprice) spindles. That rotor is really just the B-body rotor with the smaller wheel bolt pattern 5 x 4.75" vs the B-body 5 x 5" pattern. There are other brake options that work with your stock spindles (the B-body spindle has some issues when used on our cars), Check out www.kore3.com for some options, www.brphotrods.com has brackets that let you use the LS1 brakes as well.

I emailed classic performance and they said that these rotors would fit a stock 64 disc brake spindle? Is this incorrect then?

64-72 spindles are the same basically, just a slight difference for drum vs disc brakes (drum spindles can be modified for disc). I had a 1LE rotor setup on drop spindles and the pin was different than the stock spindle pin. If it fits, then that's a new one to me.

He must have been talking about their stock height spindles. Maybe theirs are the same as the drop ones...?
