Hi all;
I am pulling the inline 6 out of my 66 Chevelle to drop in a 396, i was hoping to get the frame mounts off another car at the local junk yard. Does anyone know what other cars are compatible? I heard somewhere that 350 frame mounts can be used? I can get the BB ones new for a little over $100, but im kinda on a tight car budget right now.....Thanx for any responses in advance......Bernie

Any Chevy V8 mounts will work.

64-67 Chevelle V8 frame brackets will work. If you use the SB brackets you must use the original low profile style SB engine mounts ( do not have the large safety ears that hit the SB bracket). There are aftermarket suppliers that sell new low profile engine mounts.

Well, I'm not sure about the low profile brackets, but I can tell you I took a 283 out a put in a 396 with solid motor mounts with no problems (1967 Chevelle).

I guess I am confusing the issue by saying low profile... The original GM factory standard BB engine mount will not fit over the 64-67 SB bracket that is attached to the frame. Solid mounts are included in the style I call low profile and do not have the large ears that cause conflict.
Even the current GM 64-67 SB replacement mounts now have the safety ears and instruct you to change the frame brackets to the 66-67 BB ones.
