Recently helped my bro install a 3.4 in an S10. Basically, took carb off the old 2.8 (which was fine when we took it out) and put on 3.4. On take-off, seems to hesitate a bit. The engine seems to be running fine, but is idling rough all the time (like it's missing out) and sometimes rough enough to die. Timing is set to specs of old engine (which is what GM told him to do). New distributor cap and rotor, coil, plugs (have not replaced wires). But, the wires seem to be fine because opened the hood up at nite-time - no archs. Before adjusting idling, 450 was the highest it would idle. Tried adjusting idling speed up the other day and made no difference. However, today adjusted it (after replacing distributor cap and rotor) and stepped idling RPM up to 850, which is what it should be, but it still misses out and idles bad enough to die at times. What should we do now? Any suggestions? graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif

Crossed plug wires, It happens to the best of us from time to time. Ask me how I know.

I always advise people to overhaul their carbs when replacing an engine. Also, on that carb, you'll be doing yourself a big favor by knocking out the plugs that cover the idle mixture screws so you can set the idle mixture.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going over to help my brother Wed. We will see if we can get it going.
