2 general questions here..

I've noticed my oil pressure gauge was just
under 20 at idle the other day. It rose to
40-45 when I was moving. Is this normal??

Also, I've noticed my temp is hovering around
200-210. It climbs there about 15-20 minutes
after I've started driving and it pretty much
hovers from 195-205. It's been in the 90's
here the past few days, but I just bought this
car and want to be sure if this is normal operating temp for a 327.

I see you are new smile.gif Welcome to the best Chevelle site in this lifetime :D

20# of oil pressure is fine at idle. Actually pretty good if you have an older engine. The lower pressure is due to the pump turning slower at idle. No oil pressure is bad. Ive been told an engine can survive on 7 pounds of oil pressure.

210 degree temp in that kind of weather can be expected. Its at the high end of acceptable. If you are uncomfortable with it, get an electric fan for stop and go traffic. BTW I read that the late great Smokey Yunick said that 210 degrees is optimal performance temp on small blocks. smile.gif

Thank you...
The engine is the original #'s match.
It has been rebuilt once and there
is a 4brl edelbrock now, but
unfortunately the guy I bought it from
did not have documentation on the rebuild

He did have the original warranty book
