I obviously have a weak  ignition system. Ive been running AC R45TS plugs, and they've been fuel fouling. Manufacturer calls for AC R44 plugs. Those are even cooler than what Im using. NOW WHAT?

Those two plugs are not interchangeable, even though the threads are the same. The R44 is a gasketed plug, and the R45TS is a taper seat plug.

Post your head casting number and date code and someone will be able to tell you which type plug to use.

I assume the TS suffix is for tapered seat?
Reason for asking is that the crate I just bought 350cu/330hp w/ vortec heads. Manual shipped with motor requires a R44ts, and GM Performance book wants a R45TS.

"T" is for tapered seat, "S" is for extended tip.

The heads are original 65 327 heads. The local parts store said I need R44s but they didnt have them, but do have R45s. I had a set of R45TSs from my other Chevelle and put them on this engine. It had Dart heads on it. I didnt know about the TS thing. Could that be why Im having trouble?
Beenaway...the 45TS is a hotter plug.

1965 heads use the gasketed plugs.
