Any idea what could be the problem? Car was running good, coughed a few times, shut off, wouldnt start... no spark at all. Replaced the coil and the ignition module... still no spark... the rotor spins when the engine cranks, and its getting gas... but no spark at all...im stumped..broken wire maybe?

Joey,
The first thing that pops to mind is did you check to see if you have power going to the distributor? With the ingnition in the "run" position you should have at least 12 volts at the power wire going into the HEI. That's what I would check first.
Good luck,

joey,
bill is right on the money with his suggestion. I'm sure you had to replace the wire from the fuse block to the dist. in order to run HEI. Make sure this is good.
2nd: make sure your coil and module are in good shape. You can take them to most parts stores to have them checked if you don't have a meter.
if those check out I would start looking at the pick-up coil under the rotor. One of the wires maybe cracked or broken. you can check that with a meter also.
good luck graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Check the pickup for continuity,as they do not last forever. When the vacuum advance moves the pickup, the wires flex and after some time the wires can break.
