Whats involved with changing out a speedometer cable on 71 350/350? Thanx

Hey! Im rolling in the same year and engine smile.gif fun. I just changed my "idiot sweep dash" tore it all out and put in autometers. Alot of stuff has to came off to get to the stock speedo, starting with the dashboard top which comes out pretty easy, once you get in back of that and the speedo the cable pops of really easy and it trails down under the firewall and car into the tranny on the driver side I believe. graemlins/hurray.gif

Hope you have better luck with this than I have. Posted this question several months ago. Got a similar reply to pull the dash pad. Couldn't even see much less get to the cable. Mine is not an SS & I think that's the difference with being able to access with the pad off. Let me know what you end up doing-------mine is still making noise & needs replacing.
