: bad ball joint?

Guys,
It's been awhile since I had a ball joint go bad on my chevelle, but I think one just went bad on my truck. After I hit a pretty good bump in the road, the truck's felt weird, and at times the passenger tire has felt a little wobbly-like in driving. I jacked it up, passenger tire, grabbing the top and bottom and trying to push in and out like at inspection, is fine. The driver's side has a little play in it. It feels like a little shimmy in the passenger one, but I'm guessing a ball joint could do that to the whole front end. I don't trust most shops enough to do my diagnosing for me most of the time. Truck is a 95 dodge ram btw.
I first noticed somethign weird when a hit a pothole in the road a 3-4 inches deep or so on the right side, and it bounced hard, bounced more than normal, and my first thought was the tire was falling off the way it felt. Maybe shocks, but did I test for ball joint play the right way like we do in old cars? My biggest worry is something falling off, losing steering, etc, especially if my wife is using the truck with our baby in there.

I almost forgot the 2 little things: no noise, and no popping. Little excess bounce, I think the shocks are wearing out (106k miles), but a passenger probably wouldn't realize anything was off at all.

You probably had a belt shift in the tire after you hit the pothole..try putting on a different tire (like the pass. side rear) on and see what it does then.

Check were the shims go for the alignment too. I re-packed the wheel bearings, and the ball joints were new. Then I noticed the shims where gone, opps..... :)
