Decodes to a pretty nice Malibu, 4 speed to boot!

Lighter colours with a black top are very sharp. This was the reason so many cars came with vinyl tops. 66-67 has the nicest roofline for vinyl, IMO.

This is what I can't figure out. My car doesn't have a vinyl top, or any evidence that even looks like it had one. The aftermarket marina blue is chipping off, and I can see the original chateau slate color underneath.

Also to add, the car is a '66, has a '67 front clip. I like it:D

Well, if that's the case.. I would hardly be expecting to see much of anything else to be original to the car... at this point, all we can be sure of is.. The Trim Tag that this car belongs to, was a Chateau Slate color with Black Vinyl Top. Doesn't really seem to matter now that the car has been s/w molested ;)

Enjoy!

Almost everything on the car is not original, I'm not worried about that. I just enjoy driving it, not trying to make it perfect or all original. The car was previously Chateau Slate, I can clearly see it in a few places where the blue has chipped off on the doors, and front. It's not been molested just because it isn't original, it's just more to my liking.

I've found out everything except for the accessory codes, if anyone could help, and also are these correct.
1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu
Chateau Slate
V8 - :noway: The 13617 Fisher Body Style number on the trim tag does not mean the same as the Division/Series/Model designation on the VIN plate; trim tag Style does not designate a V8 vs. L6 engine.
2-door sport coupe
Atlanta, GA
# 18,560 out of 130,540 built - :noway: This has nothing to do with total production for a plant. The last six digits of the VIN indicate the car is 'xxxxxx' of 'xxxxxx' built at a plant. Research is showing this may be a sequential body number for the particular style (ie, 13617) but it's a Fisher Body item.
Built 3rd week of April
Division series/body type- 13617 (Malibu Sport Coupe)
Lower Body color- W (Chateau Slate)
Upper body color- 2 (????)
Seat type- A (foam bench seat, HD seats) - :noway: Not really. The trim code numbers for bench and bucket seats were unique although some plants used -A after the bench seat code and -B after bucket seat code such as 761-A vs 761 & 763-B vs 763. Other plants did not since (as in this example) 761 was a black bench seat code and 763 was the corresponding black bucket seat code. Assuming you are using 'HD' for Heavy Duty - no such thing. There was an option in 1967, RPO B55, for extra foam seats but only applicable to the 300 & 300 Deluxe and only 1967 AFAIK.
Trim number- 761 (black imitation leather)
Accessories- 2LSR, and 5Y (??? Cannot find these)
Other group option codes have been defined. FWIW, the numbers "2" and "5" in the group codes desigate the beginning of particular group number and have no other significance. There were five "groups" in all and the numbers 2 through 5 were used to separate the 'group' designations.
