: Fantastic
1BLACKHARLEY Jan 30th, 09, 9:24 PM i just watched a documentary on cable, called ride of thier lives. i haven't been a fan of nascar for years, but this things went way back, and i got to see all my own favorites, everybody from petty, richmond, allison, great footage and didn't pull punches even on one of my favorite drivers (elliot) and had some great little interviews, with everybody from crew members, to family. even the music during the end credits was really good.
if your a nascar fan, i'm sure your you've probaly already seen this, if your a fringe fan, i think you'll thoroughly enjoy it. it is narrated by kevin costner, in a laid back none sensational way. the whole thing is liad back, and done extremely well....

I'm a lucky guy..since VCR's come out in the early 80's due to my family I have so many races on tape............:hurray: I bet if I counted them there is at least a 100 films from 1982-1995...
Stalkingbear Jan 30th, 09, 10:45 PM Rob..... and the reason you are saving them is....?
It's cool.... everyone wants to know why I like to watch the Indy 500 every year and refuse to do anything until it is over.

No reason really..I have many many 8mm films from before VCR's that have my family at the tracks with their 60's hot rods...I want to put them on cd but the cost is still a bit much.
Racing Jan 30th, 09, 10:54 PM I watched The Ride of Their Lives a few weeks back. I didn't realize it was a series. I'll have check out up coming programs.
Stalkingbear Jan 30th, 09, 10:55 PM (A little off track - can you believe it??!? I have a 35mm film of my wife when she was on the dating game. We transferred it to VCR and then to CD...why keep the 35mm film? You probably couldn't FIND a 35mm projector today)

My guess is because those races are so much cooler than racing today could ever be. The battles between Petty and Pearson will never be relived again. Yarborough, Allison, Richmond, The Flock Brothers, Fireball Roberts, Marvin Panch, Tiny Lund, Junior Johnson driving in his white T-shirt with a smoke hanging out of his mouth, the list goes on and on. Those were the days of racing, before it was all this goody goody crap we have to watch today.
