I have a 1972 Chevelle with a 350ci, 4spd, 2 brl Rochester carb. I first had a problem with the fuel inlet nut stripping after replacing the fuel filter, but fixed that with a self threading nut that was made for this problem (no more fuel leaks). Now it seems after about 5 minutes of running the carb starts to flood and fuel is also spewing out from the botton of the carb. The car ran fine before replacing the inlet nut. Also, the steel fuel line also has a very small kink in it. Is there something that I did wrong or is the carb on it's way out?
Thanks
Joe

Hey Joe,Sounds like a foreign object may have been dislodged and stuck in your needle and seat when you did the first fix.Your gonna have to go into it.You might want to try using compressed air and blow into the fuel inlet,As a last resort before r&r the carb.Be sure to cover the carb with a couple shop rags before doing so. Good luck Be safe C-yaa Vince

Thanks for the help. I took the carb apart and found lots of metal particals all inside the carb. Used some carb cleaner and let soak and air to blow out all deposits. Reassembled and reinstalled. Car started right up and made some adjustments and seems to be running fine. I will take it out tomorrow once the massive amounts of rain ends.
Thanks again

Thanks again for the help. I drove the car around for two days (not allday) and it seems to be running better than before, no stalling, leaking or flooding. I guess the carb internals needed to be cleaned out from not just the metal frags but from other deposits. There is one thing that I should have done was to eliminate the internal carb fuel filter and installed an inline filter. But next time, a 4 brl carb is in the future.
Thanks

Just a wild guess Joe, but I bet the frags were from the selftapping you did :D
