I was wondering if the original 307( not verified yet) out of my 70 Chevelle be worth anything to anybody on this site. I know there might be someone out there who is restoring their Malibu back to original and needs a period correct 307;). I either have a powerglide or 350 trans ( need to verify also) that I'm not using either. Don't know the condition of either of them. Didn't care when I bought the car. I'm a big Block guy and won't be using them. they are both still installed in the car. Let me know what you think.

Chuck.

They're good for boat anchors. It's worth the most to your car (if it is original).

If original to your car, stash it somewhere. That's it's only real value.

Dont scrap the 307 blocks. All 1972 and older 307 blocks can be bored safely 1/8 of an inch, making them a 350.

I don't know where you got that from but it is not true. You ever hear of core shift? I would sonic test any block from that era if I was going to bore more than .060. We build most of the pattern eguipment for both the Saginaw and Tonawanda foundries and there was not that much meat on the cylinder walls.

I sold a running 307 (carb to pan) a few years ago for $75.00 it had 40k on a rebuild and ran great.

Now you tell me, I just hauled a 307 out of a 70 Malibu to the scrap yard last week. :(
It needed a valve job.

 That would be fun. If it will hold a 200 shot then lets go with a 300 shot :D

I would seriously like to have a 307. Call me an idiot if you want. I'd make it into a stroker and put it in my car. If one of you guys has one you'd like to see go to a "good cause"...if there is such a thing, I'll take it off your hands. Seriously.

Great demo derby motor. Run hot, start hot. Good for at least a half an hour with no water.

Untill you try it,dont say it can't be done.Where do you think some of us get our 350's from.I have had 307 blocks bored 1/8 of an inch many times and had no problem with 1972 and older blocks.A 283 will also bore to a 4 inch and the 302 is born.I have not had to sleve a block yet but there may be a day when that happens because of core shift.I have not bored a 1973 and newer 307 block because I was told it can't be done.John DeLorian didn't think it could be done but I proved him wrong too.If you could have seen the look on his face when he saw my Chevy powered 66 GTO,with a 307 bored to a 350,junk yard crank, rods and pistons knureled to fit the bores. We also talked about the motor mounts and the engine frame mounts, and the 4 speed transmission from a 4 cylinder chevy Monza.

Um yeah, you go ahead and do that bud< LOL. Open the windows and let the fumes out. Why anyone would spend money boring out a 307 when their are TONS of 350s lying around is beyond me. Gonna pull your 396 out of the Velle to prove a point...to whom? John Delorean cares about your car because why? LOL. Don't think anyone around here cares either. Good luck, post pics when your done.

Why would anyone buy a worn out 350 block when they can build a virgin 350 from a 307 block.Anyway you look at it,there both going to need to be bored.I don't need a 4 bolt for a daily driver.
