When redoing the front supension this winter I removed the front bumper on my 66. I noticed a little surface rust starting to show on the back side. In the upper corners and in the center just above the license plate. An area that looks to trap damp air. Bumper was replated in 94 and still looks great on the front visable side.
Is there anything I can do to stop/retard the rust from developing on the back? Thanks.

I posed this question a couple months ago,no response. Here is what I did.Scuffed it with 40 grit then 80,followed by 220. I then filled any large imperfections with some bondo followed by a coating of nitrostan. Primed then painted with Rustoleum Satin Silver. Very time consuming being you can't get any tools in there, but mine came out beautiful.

I know guys that have done something similar, culminating with a coating of silver rattle can paint. That's what I'd do, as well.

Thanks, I wired brushed the rusted area and you can hardly tell where the rust was. There are no deep area. I was thinking of using Eastwoods Rust converter which seems to dry clear except for where there is rust. It says to use a oil based paint over the Rust Converter. I was thinking of just using a clear coat covering over the Rust Converter in the treated areas. What do you think?
