Hello all here on the Team Chevelle forums.

I am new here but plan to make a stay as the information on this site is AMAZING! And from what i can tell by posts and such the people here are friendly helping people.

I am in a spot right now trying to get a car done for my son that i have had since my high school days. 1968 Chevelle to be exact. I had a great guy i have come to know help me out on the front brake pieces so far.

I am trying to get this car done before my son comes home from Iraq. It is a surprise for him so i am trying to do this on what i make off of disability from being wounded in war myself.

I am stuck at needing a master cylinder for manual disc brakes and some calipers for 68-72 single piston. I am not getting enough money to finish this car in time. I have already spent 3 yrs doing this a piece at a time.

Is there anyone out there who may have a manual disc master, and a set of good used calipers, and the rubber caliper brake hoses?

I do not expect to come on here and get free stuff. But if you have ANY of this stuff laying around and do not have a project for it, or would let me send you what i can money wise as i get it for the parts PLEASE let me know. I just really would like to make this a special moment in my sons life and my life at the same time when he comes home.

Thanks to all.

In a hard spot.

Used brake parts may not be a good deal. I suggest going online to the stores like Checker and Autozone and see what they have to offer. I got rebuilt calipers a few years back for under $15 each. That is the price if you order online and pick up at your local store. I think that the master cylinder that will work for you is the 1973 item--but do a search here because that topic has been addressed fully. It costs nothing to look at the prices online (and do not overlook ebay). Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks a bunch for the info Wagner.

I am looking for used as a last resort because I am getting about $600 a month disability from a broke back while in the marines back in the day.

So i suppose you could say i am trying to do this broke hahaha. But done ok so far i suppose in the 3 yrs. i have scraped things together for the car. But i am running out of time.

The post is in the hopes that someone has this stuff just laying on a shelf and not putting it to use. And is in the position they might be able to help a old man out.

Thanks again Wagner for the info and have a great day.
