: Having a boy, looking for a name
firestone13914 Jan 30th, 09, 4:04 PM I just found out that we are having a boy today. I am trying to find a name. Of course I am into hot rodding and racing. Any ideas? One kind of crazy one I thought of is Diesel. My last name is Firestone. I think Diesel Firestone would be kind of cool.
Thanks
Adam

novaderrik Jan 30th, 09, 4:33 PM look up the most popular names of the 40's and 50's and use one of them.. the popular names today are all kind of girly sounding to me.
Highway Star Jan 30th, 09, 4:35 PM Smokey Firestone. Anything less is just that...less.
angelglo Jan 30th, 09, 4:38 PM how about,

zeke67 Jan 30th, 09, 6:54 PM Give up on the tire-tie in.
Give him a masculine name that is popular, famous, and memorable and something that would fit right in as a future TC member when he grows up..
How about calling him Andy69...
..(okay that would be infamous, and probably not grown up yet)...
lsrx101 Jan 30th, 09, 6:54 PM I don't really have a suggestion but a funny (scary) story regarding the naming of my son.
His mother had pretty much settled on the name Mallard Scott!! She was open to Mason Edward, but much preferred the former atrocity. I could just imagine him going through life being called Ducky, or worse.:noway:
Luckily, she had a rough time with the delivery (Yes, I'll probably go to Hell for saying that.:D). Because she was indisposed shortly after the birth, the Nurse came to me to ask about the name and other pertinent info for the birth certificate. She was a little ticked off, but she got over it. Mason and I were able to dodge that bullet.
He's now 17 and I sometimes have to remind him that if it weren't for me...
By the way, Congrats Adam!
jfkheat Jan 30th, 09, 6:55 PM Beaumont sounds like a good name. Beaumont Firestone, kinda flows off the tounge doesn't it?
James
circletrack Jan 30th, 09, 6:58 PM Whatever you do.... remember this child goes through his ENTIRE life with the name you've given him and initials make a big difference too. I agree with others on looking at some of the "older" names and going from there.
My son's name is Levi ~ so whoever suggested that... thanks! :) We happen to love that name, he's not named after the jeans that came off during conception, or anything like that. Come to find out after he was born, it's a family name on both sides, we had no idea! :)
GR868 Jan 30th, 09, 7:01 PM How about I got my wife pregnant because I didn't wear my Firestone...:yes:l:)l:)l:)l:)
Wait... that won't fit on the birth certificate.
Kevin

Derek69SS Jan 31st, 09, 11:21 AM My wife liked the name "Cole" but I didn't as it reminded me of Tom Cruise in "Days of Thunder"
I liked the name "Alex" (nickname Axle :) )and we were sure of that name for at least a few months.
The week before my son was born, I was working in the shop and NASCAR legend Cale Yarborough popped into my mind for some reason.
Meet Cale :)
