Good evening. I had a similar problem. Light would come on at low RPM, and off at high RPM.
After a new oil pump was installed, we found a bare spot on the wire to the sending unit. It was grounding to the manifold and the fan would blow the wire away from the spot at higher RPM. Hope that this helps. Best of luck to you. Dennis

Had sort of the same problem with my oil light flickering from time to time. After checking the oil level, which was full, I determined that the elec wire coming from the harness to the oil sending unit had a bare spot that would come in contact with metal and make the oil light shine.

Corrected the problem with some elec tape and prob was solved.

I'd trace your oil sending unit wire and make sure there are no bare spots.

But I wouldn't drive the car again until you fix the problem. Oil light flickering is not to be taken lightly.

I would recommend replacing the oil pressure sending switch if there is no wiring problem as suggested above. They don't cost very much(a couple of bucks) and it might even solve your problem. I've seen this fix the "flickering light" syndrome several times. You might even consider going to a thicker weight oil, maybe 20W-50.
