Wow, things are getting close. I started on this project in 1999 and car has been a work in progress ever since.

It is going back together and I am now installing the front grille and front moldings.

I have all of the original chrome pieces except the front hood trim.

The has a few minor dents and the chrome has worn off, but it is repairable.

I got 3 choice and looking for advice.

1. Buy a new piece for the hood and get the rest restored and chromed.

2. Paint all of the pieces black to match the body.

3. Buy the kit which has all repo pieces - cost about $500.

Right now I am leaning towards blacking out the whole front end.

To me, nothing screams cheap like blacked out trim. Sorry, just MHO.

If your car was flat black or some kind of G machine or something black trim might be OK and look good in the process, but if it is black gloss like those pictures go chrome all the way! Get quotes on the repairs and make a budget decision if that is what it is about. Personally, I'd try to stay original if possible - you already know that those pieces fit.

First of all, on a 66, all the pieces are aluminum, and are anodized, not chromed. To do it correct, you will need to send them out to be re-anodized, which is a very expensive process. I have more money tied up in re-anodizing than what re-pop parts would have cost, but I know they fit, and the quality is much better. With a little tweaking, you can get the re-pops to fit and look good. My opinion is to stay away from black also.
