: 1967 Medium Blue Interior-Pics Wanted
70rag2679 Jan 30th, 09, 8:43 AM I posted this topic in the Restoration section but didn't get enough replies that I hoped for.
Thanks again 704EVER for your reply. Also, if anyone has a 67 restored with a Medium Blue 729 interior code as a reference, I would love to see the pictures.
Hello Everyone,
Thanks for your help in advance. I'm doing a Concours Level Frame Off Restoration on a 67 Chevelle Conv. 396/350hp with an original interior code of 729 Medium Blue. I'm having a terrible and difficult time locating the correct color because of the many blues that they used. (Bright, Medium, Light...and probably a few shades in between).
I need a PERFECT AND ABSOLUTELY CORRECT paint match for the interior pieces such as kick panels, dash pad, seatbelt retractors.
Spraying out of a gun is not a problem, spray cans are welcome as well. I know someone out there is either going through my situation or already has already tackled this daunting task.
Please advise....
BPM67Chevy Jan 30th, 09, 9:33 AM It seems we have the same Chevelle. I have a 67 SS Conv 396/350 hp too with Med Blue interior and Marina Blue exterior. I am in the middle of a frame off resto. One thing though. My interior code on my cowl tag states 738 which Legendary Auto Interiors stated is the GM - Med Blue. Just bought all new interior from them and it is an exact match to the original. Are you sure your cowl says 739?
Legendary Auto Interior has a life time guarantee, Guaranteed to match the original GM color, and is very good quality. I received my new interior from them and am very impressed. They had a 25% discount when I bought and it came out to be lower than Year One. Legendary then hooked me up with another shop for the exact matching dye. I believe it's called Color Correct. The two work together as you give them the same color code and they match the interior exactly for spraying your seat back, kick panels, etc.
Legendary: 1-800-363-8804
Color Correct: 732-846-1044 "Use the color code that Legendary gives you".
Good luck with the Resto and I'll be watching for your progress and try to post pics of mine.
70rag2679 Jan 30th, 09, 10:22 AM Thanks Brad for the quick reply!
Yes, I was correct in saying my cowl tag says 729 for my interior.
I just looked it up again, as well as your 738 code and they are both
med blue interiors. I have a bench 4sp and you have buckets w/4sp.
That's the difference.
My exterior is Deep Water Blue which would have only come with med blue interior.
Either 738 or 729. Your Marina blue exterior could have come with med or birght blue
interior.
Thanks for the info you provided me with, I will be sure to give them a call.
Is your interior done, can you provide some pics?
Thanks,
Kyle
BPM67Chevy Jan 30th, 09, 11:31 AM Good info on the interior numbers. My interior paint was just done last Monday and the body painted on Tuesday. I'm not at the install of the vinyl interior yet but hopefully soon. I'll shoot some pics and email them to you or post here and let you know when I'm done. Or if you want a pic of the interior before install, I can do that too. let me know.
How long have you had the 67 SS Conv?
I think we can swap info and experiences of our resto's along the way.:beers:

66 Mystery Chevelle has a 67 on his site that has Medium Blue interior. Here's a link: 67 Chevelle SS (http://www.mysterychevelle.com/forsale.html)
BPM67Chevy Feb 3rd, 09, 3:33 PM Great pics but I notice the dash pad and upper dash is all the same color as the Med-Blue interior. Mine has a darker blue dash pad and upper dash paint color than the Med-blue interior.
704EVER Feb 3rd, 09, 6:24 PM Ok, for all you medium blue interior guys! Here's the trick to all of this. There are NO paint codes for the EXACT color that you are looking for. What each one of you need to determine, is the exact shade/color you are looking to achieve by having a special dye such as SEM mixed. I will agree with the fact that there are many different shades of Blue in either a Light or Medium Blue interior. What each of you need to know or submit for a mixing formula is a sample of the dash pad, a sample of the color of the dash itself and a sample of the new vinyl interior you are going to use. Once you hand over these color samples to a competent color guy, he will provide you with the products you need to get your interior as close to original as possible. There are NO CODES for premixed Blue/Red/Parchment interiors. You actually have to get in your car and take the samples to an Automotive Paint Sore to have them MIXED!!!! It's really not that hard. But when doing a colored interior, this is what you have to do, trust me I've been there!! PS, Look at the link below, I have 3 different colors. Dash pad = darkest, dash carrier = middle color, seats = the lightest. Whatever color in blue you are looking for it will have to be CUSTOM MIXED!!!! Good Luck!!
Bunz-T Feb 3rd, 09, 7:15 PM This is probably not what you are looking for but at least I posted a picture.

My 67 was the same way back in '85 when it had the original interior in it.

What a lot of you guys are looking at are restored interiors, each has had there own color stamp and twist put on them. As far as finding an ORIGINAL picture of a Blue interior, with NO changes, it might not exist, and even if it did, it would be so faded you couldn't determine any original color from it. Again, you need to take whatever you have for original colors and have them matched. 1. The dash pad is always the darkest. 2. The dash itself, will be lighter than the dash pad, yet darker than the seats. 3. The 3rd color, would be the seat colors, all arm rests and hard plastics should match this color. 4. Kick panels and seat belt holders should match the darkest color, which is the the dash pad. Good luck guys!
