My 69 continues to blow the fuse for the dash lights. Is there an easy way to find the short or a long detailed process? Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem on my '72, but it was not a short. The fuse holder clips were dirty and did not conduct very well. They heated up and caused the fuse to blow, shutting off the dash lights and the tail lamps. If your fuse blows immediately after turning on the lights, then it probably is a short in the dash or tail lamp wiring. If it takes a while to blow then it may be the fuse holder.

Has an aftermarket radio been installed?

If so, check and see if any wires were tied in to the gray dashlight wires

69 dashlight sockets are almost impossible to remove from the cluster without the socket coming apart, maybe one of the is hanging loose.

you probably have a short to ground, I would jump across the fuse with a circuit breaker, check out the wiring. check it at the lights ext. if you can't find anything you can disconect the wiring to narrow it down dash, frt. wiring to rear ext.

Thanks for the replies. My fuse blows as soon as I turn on the lights. I did install an aftermarket CD player but I had this problem before that. I guess I'll have to just find the short, huh? Thanks anyway guys.

Check for shorts in your tail light and license plate lamp circuits. They are fed from the same circuit. A pinched wire under the rear seat or a bad socket can cause major grief. Unplug the rear harness and try again. Also, check your wiring for the parking lights wherever it runs through any metal parts.
