Hello, I desperately need some help. I have a 1968 Chevelle with a 350/350. I ordered an energy suspension mount kit from summit, this one:

And I tried installing them, the motor mounts went on, no big deal, but the tranny mount is just a tish too tall, it pushes the transmission up towards the floor so you can't even get the driveshaft installed. I called the summit tech line and guy said that the mounts are right, that my car crossmemeber is wrong. I also had to slot the 2 slots even more to put it in. Here is a pic of what my crossmemeber looks like (more or less, I don't have the bottom piece with a hole in it on mine.)
Any ideas on what is wrong?? Do I actually have the wrong crossmember? What do I do???

Is your trans original to the car? I'd take a trip to the local parts store and get a standard replacement mount and test it. If it fits fine, the Energy Suspension mount is probably a bit too "generic" and may require modification. If the standard replacement gives you the same problems, try matching your current mount to a stock type and see what is different.

I doubt that your crosmember is wrong. I had the same problem with my '70 w/manual trans, and I had to use a standard rear trans mount bushing.

I was also told: "The bushing is correct. Something must be wrong with your car."

Get a standard rear trans mount and put it next to the Energy Suspension one. I'll be the E/S is at least 1/2 inch taller than the standard one.
go figure.
