: Wiper Motor Restoration resourse
69396ss Jan 28th, 09, 11:22 AM I wanted to share this resource as it's an exceptional value and an outstanding detail to take your car to the next level.
Restoration was performed by:
Steve Hackel
15000 Knox Ave
Midlothian Ill. 60445
708-687-4183
He dissassembled, cleaned, repaired dents in case, repaired broken components, refinished and plated all components as original, replaced all gaskets, seals, hardware and rewired the motor. Replaced all internal pump parts, reassembled, tested, shimmed and adjusted and lubricated.
All for approx $200.
An exceptional price for the thouroughness and quality of the work performed.
A nice show detail often overlooked on restorations.
micky69396 Jan 28th, 09, 11:35 AM Steve does a great job, been usuing him for years. Whats all the stuff on your washer for? I never seen a set up like that.
69396ss Jan 28th, 09, 11:35 AM It's off a 69 Corvette.
Bunz-T Jan 28th, 09, 11:43 AM John crossed over to the dark side.;)

69396ss Jan 28th, 09, 12:13 PM Interview on Friday for a better position than I had. We'll see.
The Vette's tore down to the bare frame with body on at this point. Scraping, wire wheeling, degreasing and painting the frame which is by far my least favorite portion of a build.
704EVER Jan 28th, 09, 12:50 PM Agreed, Steve's done several for me, cant beat the service or the price!!
Dave Birdwell Jan 28th, 09, 1:02 PM Is that the NOS yellowed pump ya got there, John??? :p
704EVER Jan 28th, 09, 1:18 PM Sure is, it's the stylish thing to do these days Dave!!
69396ss Jan 28th, 09, 3:48 PM Reproduction Wiper Motor Pump Valves simply wont do. ;)
MALIBRU Jan 28th, 09, 7:15 PM Steve did mine too. He also saved the original sticker. Forgot: Who reproduces these date coded stickers?
john5469 Jan 28th, 09, 7:25 PM Is Steve's better than Ground-Ups $160 version ?
704EVER Jan 28th, 09, 7:31 PM I would say so, on 2 of mine there were minor problems he just fixed with no added charges. I'd rather deal with a one man shop any day, plus when there is a problem you get a phone call explaining it before you just get it back and have to deal with it later.
john5469 Jan 28th, 09, 7:44 PM John, Mike, Steve, does the $200 include shipping?
Dave Birdwell Jan 28th, 09, 7:45 PM Is Steve's better than Ground-Ups $160 version ?
Despite what the picture looks like on the website, most likely the $160 one from GU will be black.... So yes, it's much better. I lucked out on my 72, it cleaned up pretty well.
704EVER Jan 28th, 09, 8:03 PM John, Mike, Steve, does the $200 include shipping?
John, here's how Steve works. I send the motor to him, he inspects it, evaluates it, calls, gives me a price, restores it, then sends it back to me in Fl. with an invoice. Then I send him a check. One was 160., another was 175., the last one, was 225. all prices were with shipping for the return. I paid to send it up. Steve is a great guy to deal with, I'll never use anyone else. PS the first one I sent was 3/4 years ago for the 160.
john5469 Jan 28th, 09, 8:11 PM 69396SS thanks for info, and Mike 704EVER. THis is the ticket. Do you remember the post of man who does the Hood Springs rebuild?
john5469 Jan 28th, 09, 8:27 PM I was sittin here eating my chinkin fingers, and thought about this thread. Wouldn't it be neat to have a TC recommended Yellow Pages for parts re-conditioning services!!! ie: wiper motors, call Steve!
1badss396 Jan 28th, 09, 9:02 PM Steve also did mine a few years ago. He is the best...

BlueSS454 Jan 28th, 09, 10:26 PM Does he do Mopar wiper motors also? I need to have the one for the CHarger redone. It works, but it doesn't park, plus it needs to be replated. I aready got a quote of $300 with return shipping.

lev8trmn Feb 1st, 09, 12:15 PM I'm sending mine off to Steve tomorrow. This way I'll know what I have when I get it back, instead of guessing wether it will work or not after I detail it. There's just some things to leave to experience. Thanks for the lead.
bbmusclecars427 Feb 1st, 09, 12:35 PM I always admired the red on red 70'.Nice car John.
