I believe it will bolt on but from what I run into is the taper on the pitman arm is a little differant than the taper on tie-rod. I tried to swap the pitman arms and found the shafts out of the boxes were differant diameters also. So i waited and came across a 66 p/s box. Hope this is of help, Rick...

I have a 66 Malibu and about 15 years ago I did some upgrades on the suspension. I used a power steering gearbox out of a 78 Trans Am. I had to change pitman arms, but the splines matched up on the "new" box ok. I think the GM gearboxes for front steer cars will interchange up to 81. I could be wrong on that, but the TA box worked great on my car, as well as the big front sway bar.

When changing steering boxes, you have to keep the pitman arms with the box. the difference is in the shaft diameter. a manual box arm will not interchange with the power box arm. I've made the swap many times.
