HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE learning curve and excitement here...

I have a buddy that for years has touted the fuel injected 5.0 in his '66 Mustang. I have now gotten the FI bug after watching the Power Block TV where they are doing the 6.0 LSX transplant. So here is what I currently have. 350 with stock heads that at the rear wheel had @290 HP with a 700R4 with stock torque converter and 3.08 10 bolt gears. I had purchased 3 years ago some addons to put on my old SBC. I bought some RPM heads, a 2800 stall lock up Torque converter, shift kit (still in the box), roller rockers, new longer pushrods (+.100") and currently having the cylinders freshened up with a deglaze and new rings. BUTTT...

Now I want to do a FI setup. Im looking at the 5.3 or 6.0 along the lines of the horsepower TV episode LSX. There are a lot of these motors out there complete for $1200-2000. Locally there is a 6.0 with a 4l60e for like 800 at a local junk yard. If I was to get that setup what else would I need in regards to the transplant. I am very comfortable in my electical/electonic skills, as well as automotive computer literacy. I know I will need to change my wiring harness and such as well as the exhaust being modified. I dont have much of a budget, and the engine I have runs the way it is. Could I recoop $2K out of my current setup (complete engine) and parts that I bought, to afford the purchase of the engine/trans? So the questions are:

What kind of motor mount adaptation do I need to do?
Will my new lock up converter for the 700R4 work with the 4L60E?
Will I need to change my driveline setup?
With the trans being the 4L60E will my cable shifter work?
What will I need to do about the speedometer?
Anything else Im missing?
Is this something I can do for under $2K?
Has anyone here done this transplant?

thanks for the respons and the links. I checked them out, and got some good info. Im going to try to do as much investigation on this as possible, and set out a budget on the different routes. Then when all is said and done make my decision, but in the mean time I hesitate to use my new heads untill I make those decisions, I may just put the old options back on the car and just use the new torque converter and see where it takes me.
