Somebody please help. Have a 70 SS with the 396. The previous owner put on an aftermarket distributor and the car runs great, however, the tach doesn't work. He actually cut the tach wire so I've replaced all the up front wiring. Tach still doesn't work and I'm positive everything is wired correctly. I've replaced the circuit board and had the gauges tested. Re-installed everything but still no tach reading. What do I do?
Also, I've added back the front light harness with horn relay et all. Every single thing works except the horns now. When I push the button, I hear a click. I believe the sound is coming from the horn relay.
Thanks for the help.

Tach should have 4 wires, white dash light source, red 12v source, black ground, green neg side of coil if the car has electronic box like a msd6al it will have a spot on the side for this wire to plug into.As for the horn it could be the relay, or it could be the horn, have someone push the horn and tap on relay,if the relay is hung open this will usually free it enough to verify thats whats wrong, the horn i've had to turn the adjusting screw forward and back a couple of times to free the horn to get them to work before, good luck.

The engine wiring harness only shows 2 wires which should go to the coil. One is red, the other a white/yellow. They are connected at the end by a central connector. Both are to go directly to the coil. This is the stock tachometer, not a aftermarket. I actually hooked up an aftermarket with the 4 wires you mentioned and they worked fine. The distributor is a mallory pointless, it does have a few wires coming off of it and go directly to the coil.
The front wiring harness is all new with a new horn relay. I haven't really messed with the horns other than to clean them up and re-mount. I'll mess with the horns a little bit, other than that I'm stumped. There may be a ground under the dash I'm missing. But like I said, everything else on the car works.
