My 64 started creaking when you hit a bump at slow speed (may be creaking at higher speeds but I don't hear the sound)or sit on the passenger seat. Is it the coil springs and how do you correct the problem? What else could be causing the noise?

Thanks

Could be any number of things that are metal on metal.

My front left fender "creeks" when I hit a bump. The lower support rod is reatined to the fender by a screw. The screw and it's retaining nut are loose and rusted.

You can simulate a suspension travel (due to a bump) by just pressing down on the car. Have some one do this while you use your batt-like sonar skills to home in on the noise.

It could be a "jarring" thing. So bump each of the body panels (up front) with the ball of your hand.

Last resort: Spray all joints with WD-40. smile.gif

A common source for the 'annoying' squeek is the upper shock rubber bushings. Lube the with white lube and the noise goes away.

mine made the same noise when u hit a bump and it was caused by the swaybar on the front. One of the endlinks wear it attaches the bolts was missing and the bar moved was moving causing it to squeek. u might want to check that out :D

Thanks for the ideas. I did think it was the sway bar but I removed that and it is still creaking.
