Cooling issues. I can't figure out why when the only variable to change(hot weather), my car wants to run 30-45 degrees above the thermostat rating. I have a 160* stat, BBC radiator, single electric fan, and an aluminum high flow water pump. It will run these temperature even cruising down the highway or just idleing, of course idling is a couple degree's hotter. What could be wrong?

where do you have your gauge mounted? in the intake or head? in my pickup 454 it the temp is higher in the head than the intake. by about 40 degrees

Running too lean?
Something blocking airflow to the radiator?
Clogged radiator?
Wrong mixture of water/antifreeze?
Correct pulley diameters?
Bad temperature gauge?
Too small of a radiator?
Air leaking around the edges of the radiator?
Incorrect timing?

Now that the "band-aid" of wet/cold weather is gone, you gotta make sure everything is right under the hood.

Do you have a fan trout as some call it ;) or shroud?
Mine runs 190-200,with 160 thermo.with fan trout :D 7 blade fan,with just water.
They make a new radiator cooler.I think it's called weter water.
As long as your under 220 I think you'll be good to go graemlins/thumbsup.gif
